Project Meeting in Austria, October 2026

Oct 22, 2026

Between 5 and 7 Oct 2026, the NEWPATHWAYS consortium gathered at Inter national Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) in Laxenburg, Austria, for its third Project Meeting.

The project partners were brought together to exchange insights and advance collaborative work on Paris-aligned climate pathways.

Across three days, we shared updates on progress across the project’s work packages and engaged in discussions on international climate policy developments, national and global scenarios, energy transitions, equity, and climate finance. The meeting provided a valuable opportunity to strengthen collaboration, align ongoing work, and explore how NEWPATHWAYS can contribute to ambitious climate action and the second Global Stocktake.

Many thanks to International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) for hosting the meeting, PIK – Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research for the project coordination, and all partners for the engaging discussions and continued collaboration!

Dinner at COP31 – From Pathways to Implementation: Financing an Equitable Transition Away from Fossil Fuels

This NEWPATHWAYS dinner at COP31, “From Pathways to Implementation: Financing an Equitable Transition Away from Fossil Fuels”, explores how global transition pathways can inform equitable national transitions and the financing needed to deliver them. It connects the scientific evidence on what the transition requires with the policy and financing challenges of implementation in different national contexts, drawing on emerging analysis from the Science Panel for the Global Energy Transition (SPGET), NEWPATHWAYS research on national pathways and climate finance, and emerging research on equitable transitions away from fossil fuels (ETAFFs).
